fiber/DIMENSIONS is a Bay Area art organization that has achieved
international recognition. They are celebrating twenty years as a very
effective and supportive arts collaborative. The group's fifth biennial
show, Intersections 5, will represent over 35 of their amazing artists. The
exhibit will be held October 13th to December 19th 2010 at the Presidio of San Francisco Officers' Club.

fiber/DIMENSIONS artists bring a diversity of disciplines to their work from
weaving, felting, quilting, and paper making to painting, woodworking,
printing, and welding. Their breadth of presentation extends globally to any venue where the creative spirit summons. Though many of their artists mix mediums and materials into forms that transcend definition, it is the vitality and potential of fiber that connects the group in the unique
fiber/DIMENSIONS collaborative. For more information about the collective
please visit: http://www.fiberdimensions.com.

As part of the new exhibit the public is invited to attend free Friday
docent tours and art demonstrations by the artists. The demos will be fun and wildly creative. All demos are from 1:30 to 2:30:

November 12 Emily Dvorin - Coiled Basketry
November 19 Lucy Matzger - Coffee Filter Collage
December 3 Jeanette Carr - Machine Made Lace
December 10 Melissa Woodburn - Pine Needle Baskets

Juror and Curator of Intersections 5: Colors_Concepts_Contours
Richard Elliot - Chair of the Textiles Program at California College of the Arts, juried and curated this exhibition. "As juror, I wanted to demonstrate the breadth & depth of what fiber can be. You will observe the traditional craft techniques of weaving, embroidery, dyeing, fabric printing, crochet, felting, quilting, papermaking and basketry, uniquely interpreted and transported to a personally expressive DIMENSION. These artists employ innovative uses of materials whether purchased, found, reused or recycled. I have also included pieces made solely of metal, plastics, fiber cement or a variety of mixed materials because these artists all began by working with textile materials but allowed their vision to evolve across media while continuing to maintain a textile sensibility".
SDA members participating are Katy Drury Anderson, JoAnn Bautista, Carole Beadle, Carol Durham, Emily Dvorin, Rose Marie Ginsburg, Beth Hartmann, Marty Jonas, Giselle Kappus, Lucia Matzger, Nancy Ziegler Nodelman, Anne Schulster, Laura Shackelford and Myrna Tatar.
